CD/DVD Guidelines

Safety Margins: Text and important images must fall within the end boxes. Extending important elements beyond those lines can cause problems during cutting, folding, and assembly. Parts of images or text can end up being trimmed off or fall directly on a fold.

Cut Lines: This is approximately where your art work will be trimmed. Keeping all text and important images inside the 1/8th inch safety margins will prevent their unintended loss during cutting.

Bleeds: This are is going to be completely trimmed away during the cutting process. only solid colors, background images that intentionally run off the page should extend through this area. Having bleeds ensures that your artwork will not have a thin white border around it.

Folds: Be very careful running any text or important image over folds. Text, especially text under 9 pt. can be hard to read if it is falling on a fold.

Free Write: 1 Million Dollars

If someone gave me 1 million dollars today, I would first put about $150,000 in the bank for my college tuition. The next thing I would do with the money is give $2,000 to the little children across the continent who need it for food, clothes,ect. I would say after making those few transactions with my money I should have approximately $848,000. With that left over money I think that the next thing I would do with the money is spend it all on me. I would buy everything, clothes, jewelry, shoes, ect. Of course i would have to buy a couple of friends some gifts plus my mom, 2 dads, grand parents, brothers and my sisters. That just about closes everything I would do with my 1 million dollars!!

Free Write: My Perfect Vacation

My perfect vacation would be to go to Disney World. That would really be the perfect vacation. We would fly all the way to Orlando Florida and stay at a beautiful resort and just living life. It would be so fun because aside from me and my family going to Florida, I would have some friends also. Those people would be; Loni, Jaylah, Erica, Dashina, Anjee, Dianne, Kesa, Ashley, and my male friends Aki, Bazir, James, and Marcus. What I would plan for us to do is to go on all of the rides that might be scary, go swimming of course, and above all go shopping! I could see if I can reserve the pool, and then all of the children could have a pool party (that I would be in charge of) while the adults are out having their own fun. That would really be the perfect vacation!!

Free Write: What If.....

What if I was the only child. If I was the only child then it would be so much fun. It would be so much fun because the only person my mom would have to worry about paying for other than herself is me. That means that anything that I would ever want and need I could get. The best part about it is that I won't have to yell at anyone because they are in my room, or have to hear my mom say "you can't go here because you can't take your brother". That would be great!

What if children did not have to go to school because they were born with all the knowledge they would need to succeed in life. This would be so cool because that means No SCHOOL!!!! On the flip side though it would be kind of weird because I wonder if you would still be able to learn anything new. As a matter of fact, would there be anything new to learn? Wow, now that's a mystery.

Free Write: My Favorite Class

My favorite class would have to be my 3rd-5th grade science class. My reasons behind me saying that science was my favorite class is because during that time my science teacher Mrs. Kernick mad science fun. In her class we almost always did experiments. Even when we were not doing experiments, Mrs. Kernick still mad the text book work fun and easy to comprehend. One of my favorite things we used to do was plant flowers. Mrs. kernick would have us plant the same flowers but one might be in the sunlight, one in the shade, or maybe one might have different soil from the rest of them to see the difference in the way the plant grew.

Do Now: That Special Someone

That special someone in my life is a couple of my friends. I don't think they know it but they are. The friends that I am talking about is Jaylah because she is funny and easy to talk to, and she reminds me when I forget that true friends won't make you choose between friends. Loni because she is so sweet and like Jaylah, she keeps everything real, (doesn't sugar-coat anything).

Dashina because she reminds me of the LaShante that I used to be. What I mean by that is that is she's outgoing, outspoken, and just plain old goofy, but behind all that is a sensitive side that struggles with things that are hidden by all the good things. The last people is my advisory, because even though our class has so many cliques, if anyone was in trouble they would be right there to help you. That as well goes for my advisor, Mothura LaToya, because she is right there for you even when she may not want to. She gives good advise and is an all around nice, sweet, and generous person(she's like the best Advisor ever!!!).

Free Write: My Weekend

My weekend was OK. It wasn't special but it wasn't boring. The best thing that I did this weekend was go Bowling. It was me, my two brothers Brian and Trevon, my two sisters Victoria and Kailynn, and my mom and step-dad. Trevon was unable to play and Victoria was sleeping. Therefore, it was only five of us playing. My mom came in first, then Brian, my step-dad, Then me and lastly was Kailynn. That was so much fun.

Halftone "Pop Dots" Tutorial

Step 1: Open your image. Put a selection around the image that you would like to put the pop dots effect behind.(Inverse if you need to).

Step 2: Press Apple + J twice. Put a selection around layer 2.

Step 3: Go under the Select menu, under modify, and choose Expand. Enter 10 pixels and click OK.

Step 4: Press "d" to switch your swatches to the default colors. Option + Delete.

Step 5: Press the letter "Q" to enter Quick Mask mode. Go under the filter menu, under Pixelate, and choose Color Halftone. Click OK.

Step 6: Keep running your filter until you are satisfied with the results. Tap the letter "Q" to leave quick mask mode.

Step 7: Option + Delete. Deselect your image.

Free Write: Family

Family, wow! I don't even know where to start. Okay I'll talk about my mom's side of the family. On my mother's side of the family there's a lot of them. There's so many of them that I think I know most of them. Some of them I haven't seen in years, but others I see often. Besides my mom's side of the family being so big, it's also dysfunctional and has a lot of conflicts. I mean I know every family has it's moments where they have some conflicts, but this family can't even have Thanksgiving dinner together without someone getting in an argument or fight. It's so bad to the point where I actually had a mental breakdown because my mother and second oldest cousin was getting ready to fight!!!!! Now this would not have been the first time, but it's has been that long. On the flip side of all of that negative stuff there is a lot of positive stuff. For instance, if any of us needed help or was jumped there would be like every family member there to ride(that's the up of having a big family). That's my family for you though!!!!!!!!

Free Write: Snow Day 1/29/09

During the Snow Day it was alright. I didn't do much but sit around and watch movies and TV all day. The movie that I had watched was Open Season 2, and the TV shows that I watched all day with my little sister was Channel 12(PBS Kids). I noticed that while we are usually at school the shows seem longer. I guess that is for the lazy people with no job and do nothing with their lives.

There are a lot more commercials during school hours. Job commercials, Insurance commercials, Mattress commercials, Car commercials, Money commercials, College(School) commercials. All of that boring stuff. Later on in the day my Step-Father had to go to work so we went to my Grandparents house. There I helped my second oldest cousin find a house for her and her four daughters. After that my mom came and got us. That was basically my Snow Day.

Free Write: Drama For The Day/Conflict

This is the perfect topic to talk about without getting in trouble about what you say. Today was okay at first, but towards the end of the day it got crazy real quick. The whole problem started inside of Math. Student1 had hit Student2 with something in the head, to retaliate Student2 had put lotion around their mouth and asked Student1 "Do this look familiar?". Other students who caught on to what Student2 was referering to, they said that it wasn't right of what she did.

Free Write: Respecting The Opposite Sex

Respecting the opposite sex is very important to about in life. I believe it is very important to learn because that way you will know boundaries or what different signals the person of the opposite sex is meaning. What I mean is, like if I was with a boy and the boy is all on me, and the signal that I am giving him is for him to knock it off, but instead he keeps on going. The reason of why he kept going was because he was never taught how to respect females and their body. This does not only stand for the guys, but for the females too. Respecting the opposite sex also has other meanings too.

Free Write: Self Reflect

Self Reflecting is a good thing to do. That's why I like this Free Write. So far through out my life I have been okay with myself. Some of the down falls that I have been experiencing with myself is my attitude. One reason that I think my attitude is one of my major down falls is because people are always telling me that I am a nice, smart, intelligent young woman, but the only thing that needs some attention is my attitude. Another reason is that I know from myself that I catch an attitude when someone says something that I don't like. Like for instance, I want to go out to a party with some friends, when I ask my parents and they say no, I will get an attitude for what ever the reason might have been for. I would have what you say an attitudinal problem. The good thing that I can say the attitude has on me is that I learn the right reason to catch an attitude for(picking and choosing my battles).

Free Write: Loyalty

Loyalty is something that is hard to find in a person. There is only a few people that I know who is loyal. Some of the people are friends and the others are family. Even if those few people may not have been loyal to me, I know that I have been loyal to them. One way to show you that I am a loyal person is by telling you an example.

An example of me being loyal is when I have at least two groups of friends that are not speaking to each other, and I'm suppose to be all of their friends, I stay loyal to the m by sharing my time with all of them. That's why I am able to make friends so easily. Plus on the flip side my friends say that they don't have to worry about me having to choose or make me choose between them.

An example of some one being loyal to me is when my friends meet new people the have the common courtesy of introducing them to me. After they introduce them to me they don't just leave me hanging for their new friend.

To conclude this free write I an going to say that just like respect, if you want to get loyalty you have to give loyalty in return. If you don't think that will work take me for example and see that if you stay true to people in the end they will stay true to you.
